Destruction Unit / Black Sunday - "Split LP"
Photobucket Photobucket

Destruction Unit, which began as a destructo-noise-punk collaboration between Ryan "Wong" Rousseau, Alicja Trout and Jay Reatard, is adding another milestone to its complex career. The latest record, which will be released by FDH Records in November, features the musical talents of Arizonans Rousseau and Sean Foree, the one-man synthesizer master behind the evil sounds of Digital Leather. As Rousseau wrote in the band's MySpace blog nearly a year ago, "Some will hate it, some will love it...It is a lot different than the old Unit. Less aggresive and more Kraut rock oriented." The song that is available for preview on the FDH MySpace page bears this assessment out: Brooding dark brilliance, a dark star in a cold alien void. It seems crazy that the Arizona desert could produce music like this, but it has nontheless. FDH Records is currently accepting orders for the split LP, which features Alicja Trout's dark and melodic new wave outfit Black Sunday on the flipside. As an added bonus, a CD version of the record accompanies the vinyl for those who crave portability in addition to audio fidelity. You can't put a monetary value on great music, but this is, after all, a record collecting blog and high prices are what result from limited edition pressings of records. In this case, FDH is only producing a meager 500 copies. - Writeup from Jason Gelt (Los Angeles Vinyl Records Examiner)- LP Limited to 500 copies (with free CD) Cd version in flexi package also available. The Kidnappers - "Ransom Notes and Telephone Calls" (Licensed from Alien Snatch)
Photobucket

Re release of that now considered as the outstanding punk album of 2003 by this german three-piece. “Ransom Notes and Telephone Calls” got raving reviews and fans all over the world and was ranked in many Top Ten lists that year. Comes with all their hits and also their mindblowing covers of LOLI & THE CHONES, TEENGENERATE and one song Brian Hermosillo (The FEVERS) once wrote for them. The KIDNAPPERS took the KIDS punk, drenched it with has undeniable power pop of the late 70s one hit wonders, those 90´s fast paced killer nippon sound and the howling of the MURDER CITY DEVILS. The KIDNAPPERS are now Beat-It (guit, voc), Chris (bs, voc) and Timo (drums) and released their second album “Neon Signs” on RIP OFF Records.
BLANK GENERATION: “..This album is a total adrenaline shot right to the heart!!!”
CARBON14: “The Kidnappers play totally enthusiastic and energetic rock and roll without the slightest bit of pretension or hipster posturing, which in this day and age is gawd damn miracle.”
NOW WAVE MAGAZINE: “The Kidnappers are currently the best rock n’ roll band on the planet..” All I know is that e..very time I drop the needle on the Kidnappers LP, I’m compelled to sing along, tap my feet, bob my head, shake my booty, crank up the volume, flip off my neighbors, and shout “Fuck yeah!” at the top of my lungs...”
MAXIMUM ROCK & ROLL: “..I dare anyone to make a better record this year. Seriously, this LP is the embodiment of what makes rock & roll great. It‘s catchy, it‘s trashy, it‘s fun and it‘s so fucking good that I am jealous..This band can do no wrong in my book. This band could be one of my all-time favorites..”
VINYL A-GO-GO: “..Ransom Notes and Telephone Calls being one of the most lethal of the vinyl injectants wasting time next to my table. This is top-notch manic, catchy, fuzztinged, infectious, punk rock/rock and roll. The kind of songs that, when at their fastest, you can’t really understand how time is found to keep the hooks intact. So it’s like a power-pop band knocked to its knees bleeding and spitting..”
TEENAGE DEPESSION: “As far as this type of stuff (Mid-Fi, punk -rock with hooks) goes, this is probably the best record I‘ve heard in ages. The songs are hot, and the record sounds really good.”
LOW CUT: “..Catchy as hell and rocking like a motherfucker!”
REV NORB: “Second coolest band logo of all time” - Taken from Alien Snatch records Press release. Limited to 500 copies (400 Black , 100 Brown. FDH -086

Terror Visions (Jay Reatard) - "World of Shit" (Picture Disk)
Photobucket

Sick death synth from Jay Reatard. Maxed-out fuzz obliteration for fucked up kids. Not so much more disturbing than Destruction Unit, Ryan Wong's synth project that Jay is often a part of, and not more moody than his other friend, Digital Leather, but where the Unit sounds like a band ripping together in a basement, TV feels like a lonely kid in a trailer park with synthesizer and Radio Shack mic, pulling it together. Where Leather also feels like a solo project of hatelove, TV is more speedy across the board. The whole album goes by quick, but not painless. The whole album falls into death synth territory with itchy minimalism, but the occasional song you could actually fukking play in a club (Medicated Dreams) where E boys might tap into it while melting. A Digital Leather cover (Shattered Reflections) is in that clubby mode too, and fulfills the incestuous nature between all these guys. While the remake of Endless Tunnel (originally on the Lost Sounds - Demos Vol. 2) is pretty great, how can your favorite not be "Blood Is Sweet but Semen Is Sweeter" - REVIEW BY Speedway Randy @ Razorcake. Limited to 1000 copies. LP SOLD OUT, CD still available. FDH-071
